Design Details
The Disco is built for surfers who want to ride on rail without anything underneath to bail them out. Generous foam for effortless paddling, but the ride is all about reading the wave and committing to your edges. This is a specialty shape for optimal conditions—clean walls where you can set a line and hold it.
How It Rides
Without fins, the board slides and holds based entirely on rail engagement and body positioning. It’s an exhilarating, different way to surf—thrilling when it clicks, humbling when it doesn’t. The generous volume makes paddling easy, so the challenge is all in the surfing, not the wave-catching.
The Shaper
Hand-shaped by Jacob Ells in Ojai, California. Ells came to surfboard shaping from snowboarding and laser engineering—a background he considers a creative advantage. His boards are known for avant-garde outlines, intricate airbrushed symmetry, and unconventional foam distributions. Every Jive board gets hand-laminated fiberglass and a sanded gloss finish.
