This is a Small Telescoping Side or End Table in the Bauhaus style, dating to the 1930s. This type of table is often referred to as a “Coiffeuse” or dressing table. The stainless-steel tubular base can telescope in height to assist the user when getting ready. The case of the piece is made of ebonized wood, and it has space to store books or other items. Both Marcel Breuer and Eileen Gray designed similar pieces, but no tags remain on this particular piece. This came to us from a Hedge Fund office in NYC where all of the furnishings were selected from world-class antique and vintage galleries.
The table measures 11 inches long, 16.25 inches wide, and 20 inches high at lowest. The wood shows some slight fading and has some scuffs, and the stainless base shows light pitting and patina. Overall, this true period piece is in good condition. Please see photos.
